At the 2014 Annual Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce Banquet Dinner last night the Callaway Kids Bank Board of Directors was awarded the Allen Connor Youth Award. This award is presented to a high school student or youth organization for community service and dedication to Fulton or Callaway County. The Callaway Kids Bank was founded in 1993 and has been teaching kids to save for 20 years. While the overall mission is to encourage and help kids learn to save their money, the Board members are also responsible for a budget and must insure donations reach out to kids in an effort to make a positive impact. A few of the organizations they’ve supported in the past are:
- DARE program
- Youth Leadership Callaway
- Fulton Street Fair’s Kiddie Corral
- SERVE’s Adopt A Family
- American Banker’s Association Teach Kids To Save Day where they arrange for a special visit to the 3rd grade classes in their schools.
- Junior Achievement
The Board members accompany C.B. Squirrel, The Callaway Kids Bank mascot in parades and other kid-friendly events in the communities. The mission of the Kids Bank is to teach kids the importance of saving their money so as they become adults they will be in a better position to provide the lifestyle they “choose” for themselves and their families…..rather than having to “settle”.
The Callaway Bank is honored and very proud of our Callaway Kids Bank Board of Directors for their service and commitment.
